At the time of this update May 2023 Nationals of 103 countries can get a free 14 Day Visa on arrival
This is a quote from the Oman Foreign Ministry web site https://fm.gov.om/visitors/entry-visas/
“In line with national efforts to promote and ease services for tourists visiting Oman, nationals of 103 Countries and regions are exempt from entry visas for up to 14 days”.
The exemption is subject to certain requirements including a prior and confirmed hotel booking, health insurance, and a return ticket.
But this 14 day visa cannot be extended. So for those wanting to stay more than 14 days you must apply for a 28 day Visa online

Follow the instructions carefully. Have your passports ready and photographs exactly as specified in the instructions you will need to scan these.
But now be careful once the Visa has been issued it has to be used within one month from the date of issue. In other words you must arrive in the country within 4 weeks from the date the visa was issued.
A certain degree of patience is required when enduring the online application process. But we promise you it is all worthwhile in the end, this is a stunningly beautiful country!
Note that this 28 day visa can be extended for a further 28 days but only once.
There are also other things to be aware of such as rules and regulations regarding Multiple entry Visas which can depend on the Nationality of passport. And if you are travelling overland it can depend on which border crossing you travel through. Other nuances apply if you have a visa for GCC countries and/or UAE visas. They change so frequently, so it best to check for latest information on the government website.
