Over the years, we’ve discovered that a “Dual Skin” Pop up Tent is the finest form of Ground Tent for Oman’s temperature and terrain. These can be set up in seconds and taken down in two minutes once you’ve become used to them.
Off-Road recovery equipment is recommended while traveling across the desert or to Bar al Hickman. However, you might easily become stranded on any beach with soft sand. So having this gear protects you against a potentially long, hot, and dry walk to obtain aid.
A tire deflator, a compressor, a set of Sand Boards, and a Kinetic towing line with shackles are all included in our package.
Camping in Oman
The size of the car you should select depends on the number of people and on the type of Car Hire and Roof Top tents camping gear you choose. If you go for standard tours camping equipment, you have the option of using a roof rack. We have two types of Roof Top tents service. Type One is the smaller one and is good for two Adults. We can actually fit a Type One is onto a 2.0 Litre Renault Duster, but this is a small car so along with all the camping equipment we supply this option is really only good for two people.

Also note the Duster can be taken on “some” Mountain Roads but it must not be taken into the Wahiba Sands or the Empty Quarter. The car does not have sufficient ground clearance.

- Shovel + Gas Stove with Gas bottle. This is a large bottle of gas not the normal tiny Gas canister
- Frying pan + Saucepan + Kettle + Knives & forks + Plates & Bowls & Mugs + Chopping board + Wash Bowl + useful kitchen utensils
Tail Gate Tents
With a Tailgate tent you can turn your car into a Base camp. They can be installed on any car that the rear door opens vertically. So on our cars they can be installed on The Renault Duster, The Nissan Xterra, The Nissan Pathfinder, The Toyota 4Runnner and the GMC Yukon.
The Tailgate tents do not have a sewn in groundsheet (floor) so like the roof top tents they can be erected anywhere the car can go. For sleeping in these tents it is best to sleep on camping cots which we provide. Because the tents are secured to the car they are very stable in windy conditions and make much less noise than other types of tent. They make an ideal base camp for Kite Surfers in the Summer And if you choose the Pathfinder or the Yukon 2 [people can sleep in the back of the car in comfort.

All Tailgate Tents come with a comprehensive set of camping equipment. This includes :-

Off-Road Recovery Equipment
If you are going across the desert or going to Bar al Hickman it is wise to take Off-Road recovery Equipment. But you can of course easily get stuck on any beach with soft sand. So having this equipment is an insurance against a possible long hot dry walk to get help.
Our package includes a Tyre Deflator, a compressor, a pair of Sand Boards and a Kinetic towing rope with shackles.
Before leaving:-

- Check shackles can be attached to the towing points

The size of the car you should select depends on the number of people and on the type of camping gear you choose. If you go for standard camping equipment, you could choose a 2WD car but you will be very limited to travel into the mountains and you will not able to take a 2WD car into the Desert
If you select a 4WD car with roof rails you have the option of installing a roof rack But PLEASE NO MORE THAN 4 ADULTS PER CAR. we have just seen enough of people cramming into cars and then piling stuff over 1 metre high onto the roof rack and then loosing it on the highway as they drive along.
