After relaxing at Bimmah we will drive 20 minutes further down the coast to Wadi Shab. The highlight of Wadi Shab is to swim through the keyhole to see the waterfall inside the cave. Bring some suitable footwear that you do not mind getting wet and be careful some of the rocks on the way to the cave are slippery From Wadi shab we drive to the Turtle resort at Raz Al Jinz.

Day 4
Misfah Al Abriyeen – Jebel Shams – Misfah Al Abriyeen
After breakfast we drive to the highest mountain in Oman Jebel Shams (The Mountain of the Sun). The views looking over the cliff and down to the Grand Canyon are magnificent. Anyone for Base Jumping? It is not far from the view point to the start of the Balcony walk. This walk is not too arduous and is suitable for most people of moderate fitness. It meanders along just below the edge of the Grand Canyon and leads to a rock pool and an abandoned village at the end of the path. The scenery is truly spectacular. After an exhilarating hike we drive back down the Jebel to our Hotel in Misfah or al Hamra.
Day 5
Misfah Al Abriyeen – Bahla – Jabrin – Oman across the ages Museum – Nizwa – Misfah Al Abriyeen
We will next visit Bahla Fort (UNESCO world heritage site) and then just a short drive to Jabrin castle. This is perhaps the most popular castle in Oman. After lunch we visit the new Museum called Oman across the ages. Enter the Museum and it takes you way back in time. It charts the course of history from the very first settlers to the achievements of modern day Oman in the renaissance Gallery. Our final stop of the day will be Nizwa where we will visit the Fort and the Souq and perhaps purchase a souvenir. A must see is the Date market where you can taste the many various types. We then drive back to our Hotel in Misfah or al Hamra.
Day 6
Misfah Al Abriyeen – Bait Al Safah Museum – Al Hoota Caves – Bait Al Safah Museum – Wadi Tanuf – Misfah Al Abriyeen
We first visit the funny little Museum in Al Hamra called Bait Al Safah In this old mud House some ladies dress in Historical costumes demonstrate such crafts as baking Omani bread and juniper oil production etc. Then we drive to the Al Hoota Cave. The cave is over 5 Km long it is said to be home to over 100 species of wildlife including blind cave fish. Note the cave is often closed when it is raining. (which is not very often). Next it is time to get some exercise and do some walking to explore Wadi Tanuf Nestled on the Western side of the Al Hajar mountains. It is quite fertile. But there is a sad history. It used to be a thriving village but now all see are old ruins. Back in the 1950’s there was a rebellion against the ruling sultan this was known as the Jebel Akhdar wars and the air force was called in to bomb Tanuf. Fortunately it is a very peaceful place today.
Day 7
Misfah Al Abriyeen – Sharaf Al Alamayin Trek down to – Misfah Al Abriyeen
Today is a full day’s trekking. Make sure you have a small backpack to carry water. That you have trekking shoes or boots. Trekking poles would be good. Most importantly make sure you have serious protection against the sun. The UV is very intense up here. You will be driven to the high point at Sharaf Al Alamayin. From here you will trek back to Misfah. It is downhill all the way.
Day 8
Misfah Al Abriyeen – Balad Sayt – Wadi Bani Awf – Al Hazm Castle or Wukan – Nakal – Muscat
Today is quite a long day so we must start early. You have an option today to visit Hazm castle (my favorite castle in Oman) or to visit Wakan which we consider to be Oman’s prettiest village. We drive out of Misfah up the Jebel to Shorfet Alalamin where we stop to admire the spectacular view.s Then we strap in for an awesome drive down the jebel. If we have time we will take a short detour to see the beautiful village of Bilad Sayt and then we will drive along Wadi Bani Awf past the fearsome Snake canyon. We emerge from the canyon at Al Awabi and then drive to Al Hazm castle or to Wakan. The castle has been beautifully restored and has a very interesting collection of canons. To visit Wakan we drive through Wadi Mistal and into the Ghubra Bowl. This is a bit barren but is surrounded by imposing Jebels on all sides. As we start the climb up the Jebel the majestic Village of Wukan can be seen clinging to the rock face. As we get closer it just gets more beautiful. This probably is the most picturesque village in Oman. After a very steep ascent, we park and then walk up through pretty gardens with fruit trees, almonds, pomegranates, apricots, and dates. Beside the path is a Falaj with flowing water and many pools. From Wukan it is a short drive to Nakal where we visit the impressive fort and to admire the views of Date plantations from the castle walls We then visit the hot springs where if it is not to crowded it is possible to bathe After a long day we return to Muscat.
Day 9
Muscat Swiss Bellinn Hotel – Wadi Dayqah Dam – Wadi Arbeieen – Sifah (Nomad Apartment or Sifway Hotel)
From Muscat we drive “over the top” to Amerat. Look behind you for some awesome views of Muscat. It is about a 2 hour drive to Wadi Dayqah It is a beautiful Wadi with lots of lush date plantations. But its main importance is the Dam that holds back the reservoir that can store up to 100 million cubic meters of water. The Dam was built in 2012 its quite an engineering marvel. The reservoir is surrounded by a nice park so a great place to relax and maybe soak up some sun. From Wadi Dayqah we drive through a geological wonder land to Wasi Arbeieen where there is large rock pool with a beautiful waterfall. It’s great fun to jump off the rocks and swim up against the flow of the waterfall. We then drive back to Muscat.
