To get the best from your Kite Surfing trip to Oman you need to rent a 4WD car and camping equipment from Nomad Tours. You can also rent Kite surfing equipment through our partners.
Oman is developing into a kite surfers destination of choice. Two types of kitters are going to come here and get blown away. One:- the kitter who is going to come to Oman to prominently kite surf. These Kitters are going to come in the Monsoon season mid June to September.
The second type of Kitter to visit Oman will be those that prominently plan to visit this beautiful country but they have the kite ready to fly and when “Windy” says it is time to fly they head for the coast.
Oman is clearly one of the top kite surfing destinations in the world. Some of our guests are now coming year after year. They are booking cars and equipment from Nomad Tours sometimes 12 months in advance. Through our partners we can also provide kitesurfing equipment and kite surfing lessons.
Nomad Tours offer specialized cars and camping gear to kite surfers for their kitesurfing and kiteboarding adventures, our cars are specially equipped with all the equipment required for camping and kitesurfing on the beaches.
In Oman you can of course kitesurf all year around and you do not even need a wetsuit. If you are lucky enough to be staying at the Nomad Guest house. It is walking distance to the main kite surfing beach in Muscat: Azaiba beach.
The real “Die Hard” surfers flock to Oman in the relatively short Monsoon season mid June to mid September. During this time the winds blow consistently. But they are blowing along the East Coast of Oman and to get to some of these places you really need a 4WD car. You will want to set up camp on a beach or near a beach and so you need a 4WD car to drive along the Sand. And because there is little infrastructure in some of these places you need to be self contained so you need to take camping gear.
Nomad Tours with 99 Roof top tents can supply a whole range of camping gear from standard ground tents to tailgate tents and four different roof top tents. Nomads know what Kite surfers want. The biggest fix you want is adrenaline. You are budget conscious and you often have a lot of gear. So we have a range of 4WD cars. Some of these cars are designed so that all the seats in the back fold completely flat so 2 adults can sleep comfortably in the back. And we have pickups with completely enclosed cabins to carry all the surf gear
One thing that makes a great base camp is a tailgate tent. This Type of tent is securely fixed to the back of a car. And so they do not flap around and make a noise as much as other types of tent. And they are surprisingly roomy with even enough room to stand up.
This is Google review from one of our “Die Hard” kite surfers
I can 1000% recommend Nomad Tours, especially if you are planning a kitesurfing trip through the country. The service is absolutely excellent and the employees are incredibly nice, courteous and always available. The 4×4 provided to us once again far exceeded our expectations. Price/performance absolutely top. The team made our kite vacation in Oman unforgettable. My recommendation: anyone planning a kitesurfing holiday in Oman should book with Nomad Tours!
In September 2024… 6 Kite Surfers are coming from Brazil ……Hey wake up Kite surfers! Yes these guys are coming all the way from Brazil to kite surf in Oman. They are taking these two cars with 3 roof top tents and will be using the pickup to carry all their gear.
Kitesurfing Safaris
Nomad Tours can supply you the cars & the camping gear and even the Kite surfing equipment. We will also be inviting you into our Whatsapp chat group NomadVisor which even in the low season has over 300 members. This forum can be the best travel buddy you will ever have. We will send you weather warnings etc Often kite surfers, or others, can chat via this forum and travel together to more remote places like Bar Al Hicman.
The Chat group could be used to organise Surfing Safaris. Starting in Muscat, the first stop could be Ras Al Hadd and the two Lagoons, then go down the coast and pick a spot near to Al Ashkharah then go across to Masirah Island. From the Island back to the mainland and be very careful to drive to Bar Al Hickman. Unless you have at least two cars, then take a guide to drive you through the sometimes treacherous salt flats. Check out the tides you do not want to be surfing those lagoons at low tide. From Bar Al Hickman it is not far to the stunning Sugar Dunes. Be sure to ask Nomads for a copy of the way to these whiter than white sand dunes with less risk of getting stuck. Then if you have time you could head all the way down past Duqm and Ras Madrakah to the Lagoon at Al Jazer. This place is usually teaming with Marine life so bring a fishing rod. And there are normally all kinds of different species of birds, so bring binoculars. The camping at the tip of the sand bar is just awesome.
It is a long way back to Muscat but we are sure you will be able to say that it was a kite surfing Safari like no other in the world.
