Information About Oman Country

Simply said, Oman is the Middle East’s Jewel, a playground for adventurers. Oman offers some breathtaking countryside and a lovely ocean just waiting to be discovered. Nomad Tours can assist you in discovering this fascinating country. When tourism first began a few years ago, the declared philosophy was to attract wealthy tourists who would stay in luxurious hotels and therefore spend more money, thereby helping the economy. We have a completely different philosophy; we want to inspire folks with an adventurous attitude to get out and discover this land.

Best Time to Visit Oman

Summer begins to cool off in October and truly cools off in November, but it begins to heat up again in April, with humidity setting in around the middle of May. November and March are two of my favorite months. Even in the middle of July, though, you may drive high into the mountains and experience some great cooler weather.

Culture of Oman

The Islamic religion is at the heart of Omani culture. Oman established its own brand of Islam known as Ibadhism, named after its founder, Abdullah ibnIbadh, who lived in the seventh century. Omanis are not only accepting of diverse Muslim sects’ beliefs, but also of adherents of other faiths, who are free to practice their religion in churches and temples. The fulfillment of the Five Pillars of Islam, or hadiths, is the foundation of Islam. One can be certain of a spot in heaven if they perform these responsibilities.

About Oman

Simply put Oman is the Jewel in the Middle East, it is an adventure playground. Oman has some stunning scenery and a beautiful Ocean just waiting to be explored. Nomad Tours  can help you explore this beautiful country. When Tourism was kicked off only a few years ago the stated Philosophy was to attract the wealthy Tourists, the ones that stay in lavish hotels and so the theory goes spend more and thus aid the economy. Our Philosophy is entirely different, we want to encourage those with an adventurous spirit who are going to get out and explore this country.

  • To climb and trek in the Mountains.
  • To Mountain Bike down the Wadis.
  • To dive and snorkel over the Coral reefs.
  • To camp in the desert.

Then to go home and to tell their mates what a wonderful time they have had. What better way to do this then to encourage families with kids. The kids will surely have a great time and will go home and to tell their school buddies what an awesome place Oman is, with friendly hospitable people. The buddies will tell their parents to come and when the kids are grown up they will bring their kids. That’s sustainable tourism and if I was an Omani and proud of my country that is the philosophy that I would endorse. See Videos below and book your Tickets !

What to do in Oman

Oman is not for the single guys who might be looking to club all night and perhaps lay on the beach all day…forget it, go to Dubai. Oman  is for those that want to Camp, Hike, Dive, Climb, Mountain Bike, Snorkel, Sail, Kayak, Wind Surf, Water Ski, Kite Surf, climb via Ferrate, “survive” Snake Gorge, take a Camel across the Desert, cross the Empty Quarter in a 4WD car, Fish, Jet Ski, watch Dolphins & Whales and indulge in just about any sport other than Winter sports!

It is possible to eat well and cheap but it means going to unlicensed restaurants. Licensed restaurants are much more expensive  Now if you are like me, I do like to unwind with a class of wine over dinner, you might want to bring in your duty free allowance which you can buy on arrival at Muscat airport.

Nomad Desert Camp

We have been exploring this country for over 27 years and there is always more to find. These days the roads are so good many people just cruise along at 120 Km/h and miss the beauty of the place. Over the years we have discovered some truly magnificent camping spots along the coast and some awesome routes  through the mountains.

The best way to explore Oman for those with time, is on a Mountain Bike and Camel but for most it is by Self drive Car. Some places are accessible with a 2WD car which is cheaper than a 4WD but a 4WD does offer more flexibility particularly if you are do it yourself campers. You will have more room for your camping gear and can pull further off the main roads to find unique camping spots. BUT BE CAREFUL WHEN RENTING A 4WD CAR MAKE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE INSURED TO DRIVE OFF ROAD
