Tailgate Tents
Tailgate tents are more flexible than ground tents, because they are partly secured to the car; It is easier to find suitable ground to erect them. And Tailgate tents from Nomad Tours do not have ground sheets which can be ripped apart by jagged rocks in the mountains. So rather than sleep on mattresses on the floor Nomad tours provide camping cot beds. These tents are quite "roomy" and you can actually stand up in them.
A tailgate tent requires a car with a tail gate that opens vertically. Such cars include the Renault Duster, the Nissan Pathfinder, the Nissan Xterra and the GMC Yukon. One great advantage of both the Nissan Pathfinder and the GMC Yukon is that all the back seats fold completely flat. So it is possible for 2 people to sleep very comfortably in the back.

With a Tailgate tent you can turn your car into a Base camp. They can be installed on any car that the rear door opens vertically. So on our cars they can be installed on The Renault Duster, The Nissan Xterra, The Nissan Pathfinder, The Toyota 4Runnner and the GMC Yukon.
The Tailgate tents do not have a sewn in groundsheet (floor) so like the roof top tents they can be erected anywhere the car can go. For sleeping in these tents it is best to sleep on camping cots which we provide. Because the tents are secured to the car they are very stable in windy conditions and make much less noise than other types of tent. They make an ideal base camp for Kite Surfers in the Summer And if you choose the Pathfinder or the Yukon 2 [people can sleep in the back of the car in comfort.

When you camp with us you will be invited to join a Whatsapp Chat Group of fellow Nomad Campers who might be out there camping now, or camping in the near future. Or might have even gone home, but they are still actively posting useful information. Usually there are over 300 active participants in this chat group.
Tailgate tents include the following camping equipment:
- Sleeping bags with optional silk liners, camping mats, chairs, and a table
- Camping lights (multiple types), a non-electric cool box, and a spade
- Frying pan, saucepan, kettle, cutlery, plates, bowls, mugs, chopping board, wash bowl, and essential kitchen utensils

- Please check during handover that water containers are not leaking and are securely tied down
- Gas stove with a large gas bottle (3kg or 5kg)
- Additional gas bottles can be provided upon request at an additional price.
